Week 9-Final Project

I.              Introduction:
Why is it important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically? What areas do you need to develop to achieve the goals you have for yourself?
It is very important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically in order for them to be able to direct their clientele in the right directions. We cannot teach lessons that we are ourselves are unable to follow because it would should in the relationships we build with our clients. These internal develops take experiencing them firsthand to be able to fully explain the experience and assist other in gaining the same knowledge. The goal I have set primarily for myself is working on my psychspiritual self. I want to become an all-around better person, not because I feel I am not one  now but I feel that when I am able to be able to encompass life in a sense of it being one big lesson and being to bake to draw from it more positivity that I would have reached my goal. I need to work on filtration of my emotions and feelings rather acting out of instinct. Being able to center my thoughts and emotions the right way will allow me to convey them the correct way as well.
II.            Assessment:
How have you assessed your health in each domain? How do you score your wellness spiritually, physically, and psychologically?
The way that I have assessed my health in each domain is by reflection of self and asking myself questions. I ask a series of questions that reflect each particular domain to ensure that I am content with the level of knowledge that I have attained. As of now spiritually I feel on a scale of 1-10 I would rate myself at a 7. I am 24 years of age and I am aware that I do not know everything there is to know about everything. I am comfortable with realizing that I have a lot to learn about life so that I can continue to instill the right morals onto my children. Physically I am content with how I look and feel although I am currently pregnant I am considered very healthy because I do what I need to do to eat right and stay consistent in my exercise regime, I would rate myself at a 9. Psychologically I feel that I have a bit of some maturing to do which I firmly believe comes with time. Each year of life along with different experiences brings on a newer sense of wisdom. I am at a level of maturity where I am still learning the proper ways of doing things along with the not so proper ways , I would give myself a rating of 7.5 out of ten.
III.           Goal development:
List at least one goal you have for yourself in each area, Physical, Psychological (mental health) and Spiritual.
One goal that I have set forth to assist me in maintaining optimal physical health is fitting in physical exercise of about 60 min 3x a week. This will allow me to stay consistent in my weight and body composition allowing me to feel happy about my appearance. One goal that I have set in the area of my psychological health would be assessing the output of my feelings in a more positive light so that my points are understood clearer and not misunderstood. Spiritually my goal is to find my primary areas of serenity and visit those places more often I tend to continue meditation and going to church more often.
IV.          Practices for personal health:
What strategies can you implement to foster growth in each of the following domains; Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual. Provide at least two examples of exercises or practices in each domain. Explain how you will implement each example.
Many different strategies can be implemented to foster my growth in many different areas such as Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual. Physically I will continue my cardio workouts on the treadmill that will assist me to keep my momentum throughout my busy days. Also I will increase my physical self by continuing to practice tennis so that I keep in shape by doing something I find extremely fun. Psychologically I will write in my thoughts in a blog or diary of some sort in order for me to be able to have some self-reflection in order for me to be able to learn from things that I have done wrong. I will also use some of the visualization mechanisms that I have learned throughout the semester to help in centering my thoughts and focus. Spiritually I will engage in more morally based group activities such as the many church events that occur in my community. Also I will continue to implement my meditation practices that assist me in enriching my relationship with self.
V.           Commitment:
How will you assess your progress or lack of progress in the next six months? What strategies can you use to assist in maintaining your long-term practices for health and wellness?
The main way that I will assess my progress or lack thereof is my keeping a goal chart. I have done so as of now marking what I wish to accomplish during the week as well as writing down what I actually have accomplished on the list. I feel that surrounding myself with a group of peers that have the same goal of enlightenment will in a sense be my outer source of support. Surrounding yourself with people of the same interest makes things seem easier to accomplish.

UNIT 8

The two practices that I feel have been the most beneficial to me would be the Loving-Kindness and the meditation exercises. Loving Kindness has allowed to incorporate more positivity that I may have been lagging before. It has taught that in every case treat  others as I would to be treated and taking the time to learn how to cope with the stress that may annoy me and turning it into a positive situation. The mediatation exercise I must say has affected me tremendously. I have become a much more calmer person. Instead of jumping to conclusions about things I take time to first reflect that initate a game plan.

I have implemented these practices in my life and have found that they have made me a better person through and through. My relationships are strengthened I know myself much better and I have taken the time to educate those around me to try these same practices as well.

Week 6

I really did enjoy practicing this weeks exercise. Meditation is something that I practice on a regukar basis and have done so for about 3 months now. I enjoy it primarily because I am able to close out a lot of things around me that poses a distraction  from me focusing on building myself. I discovered further more that  I need to pace myslef in many of my thoughts and actions. The primary area that I feel I need the most help would be in strengthening my psychospiritual. I need to learn to grow from within and learn to trust those who surround me with positivity and give back that same sense of goodness.

One main exercise that I feel can help me to achieve this aside from meditation would be blogging. Journaling my most inner thoughts an feels can help me grow as well since I tend to be more so of a visual learner. I believe that being to look back o my thought processes, reactions and behaviors can help me to become a better person and a more critical evalutaor of where I currently am versus where  I want to be.

Subtle Mind vs Loving Kindness

Listining to the " Subtle Mind" track was easier to listen than the " Loving Kindness" but a lot harder to do. I find it very hard to let my mind rest many of times and to be able to clear all my thought at once is never easy. The Loving kindness track allowed me to exhibit activity that I already try and complete in my day to day life. Yet the Subtle mind exercise was a bit more challenging. I feel that this a great lesson for me because knowing tis hardship about myself allows me to have goal to set towrds enhancing my mind/body connection. If I were able to overcome this task I feel I would become a bit more relaxed with the the way I deal with a lot of things.

Connection of  my spiritual wellness to both my mental and physical wellness I feel is strong but can be managed a bit better. I tend to act now and think later, which at many times causes a lot of stress for me. If i were to think about my actions more before fully engaging in them I beleive a lot of good would come about it. Managing my thoughts to properly direct my actions is a great task to overcome and I am working within myskef to accopmplish the goal.

Week 4- Loving kindness

Listening to the Loving Kindness track was a good experience for. The tracks assisted me in relaxing and allowed me to place my mind on a course of serenity. The messages and guides that I thought to be most beneficial were finding the ways to adjust ourselves to bring together positivity throughout our relationships. I find this quite easy because I find myself to be a very positive outgoing person, friend, spouse, daughter, sister, mother etc.. One thing that disrupted my thought processes was the static between thee two tracks. It sort of through off of my serene mind set. Aside from the technical issues I would definitely recommend this to friends and some family. I feel everyone no matter how happy they may get can sometimes have some hardships. Sometimes we need to take the time to refocus and become one with ourselves again.

The concept of "mental workout" refers to our exercising our brains and gaining a better sense of understanding our selves and our personalities. Enabling ourselves to fully understand the concept of growth we must first realize that this starts within our own minds. This acceptance can then transcend to higher psychological growth of our surrounding relationships as well, which could then expand to so many different outlets. Some things that I feel we can incorporate in our day to day activity would be meditation, or again listening to disks that provide insightful growth seeking techniques.

WEEK 3

I would rate my physical well- being as a 6 I am 7 and a half almost 8 months pregnant so of course my physique is not where it normally would be. I am content with my pregnant figure becuase like my last pregnancy I have not gained too much weight in any area but really my belly.

My spiritual well- being would be rated at a 7 I am very content with myslef and the practices that I believ in and have grown to atain my own religious undertsanding. In my time of need  I pray and I thank the heavens everyday for the life that I have been blessed to live.

My psychological well- being would be given the lowest score of all at a 5 because I feel my strenght in this area falls at 50%. I am not showing signs of distress but with the load of school, being pregnent and raising a toddler alone while my husbandtrains for his first deployment, my plate is a little full, needless to say. I find balance in my family who are a great support system and sdwell on the realization that I will be finishing up with school within the next term.

My physical goal would be to work out as much as I possibly can befire July to retain my normal weight to partake in my aunts wedding. An exercise to implment this goal would be running track or on a treadmill.
My spiritual goal is to educate myself in learning about more about different religious aspects and they how subconsiously they play a part in my life. An exercise to execute this goal would be engaging in different religious practices and testing their waters.
My psychological goal is to find the positive side of the many things going in my life and how I can achieve them all. An exercise for executing this goal would be meditation and writing my thougt sin a journal.

I think that the guide in this relaxaton exercise did a great job in giving me a feeling of relaxation. It provided for the first time in a long time a great deal of oneness with myslef and my kicking baby. The motions he describes along with the tone and demeanor of his voice made this quite enjoyable.
